Terms of Use

Household Hive

1. Acceptance of These Terms

Welcome to Household Hive. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Household Hive (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Household Hive”) governing your access to and use of our website at householdhiveagency.com, related subdomains, and any services or content made available through the website (collectively, the “Website”).

By accessing, browsing, or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

These Terms apply to all visitors, families, household professionals, and anyone else who accesses or uses the Website.

2. About Household Hive

Household Hive is a household staffing placement agency based in the Greater Seattle, Washington area. We connect families with experienced household professionals, including nannies, household managers, family assistants, newborn care specialists, private educators, and personal assistants.

Household Hive is a placement agency only. We are not the employer of any household professional placed through our services. Families directly employ and pay the household professionals they hire. Household Hive is not a payroll provider, tax advisor, legal advisor, or licensed childcare provider. We are also not the legal employer of the candidates or providers in our network.

Specific terms of any placement, on-call care booking, or service engagement are governed by separate written agreements between Household Hive, the family, and/or the household professional. These Terms govern your use of the Website only.

3. Eligibility and Age

The Website is intended for use by individuals age 13 and older. Visitors under 18 may browse the Website only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

To submit any form, application, intake, consultation request, or other service-related submission through Household Hive, or to engage Household Hive’s placement services in any capacity, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Agree to comply with these Terms and any related agreements

By submitting a form or engaging our services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to Household Hive, please contact us at contact@householdhiveagency.com so we can remove it.

4. Permitted Use of the Website

You may use the Website for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes related to learning about Household Hive’s services, submitting inquiries, applying as a provider, or engaging us as a family.

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Website in any way that violates federal, state, or local laws or regulations
  • Submit false, misleading, inaccurate, or fraudulent information
  • Impersonate another person, family, or household professional
  • Use the Website to harass, abuse, threaten, defame, or harm anyone
  • Attempt to access portions of the Website you are not authorized to access (including admin areas or another user’s account or dashboard)
  • Scrape, harvest, copy, or collect content, candidate listings, family information, or job postings from the Website using automated tools or for commercial purposes
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Website, servers, or networks connected to the Website (including by introducing malware or denial-of-service tactics)
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Website
  • Use the Website to recruit candidates or families outside of Household Hive in violation of any no-bypass or non-circumvention clause in our agreements
  • Misuse contact information you receive through the Website or placement process
  • Send spam, advertising, or unsolicited communications through Website forms
  • Use the Website in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair Household Hive’s operations

5. Forms, Applications, and Submissions

When you submit information through any form on the Website — including consultation forms, family intake forms, provider applications, contact forms, or other submissions — you agree that:

  • The information you provide is accurate, complete, and current to the best of your knowledge
  • You have the legal right to share any information you submit, including information about other adults in your household, your children (as a parent or legal guardian), or references
  • Household Hive may use the information as described in our Privacy Policy and any related agreements (such as the Family Agency Agreement or Candidate Agreement)
  • Submission of a form does not create an agency relationship, placement guarantee, employment relationship, or contract until a separate written agreement is signed by both parties

Household Hive reserves the right to decline, ignore, or remove any submission at our discretion, including submissions that appear incomplete, fraudulent, abusive, or outside the scope of our services.

6. Account and Dashboard Access

Household Hive uses Enginehire, a staffing agency management platform, to provide candidate and family dashboards. If you create an account or are issued login credentials through Enginehire or any other platform we use, you are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials confidential
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying Household Hive immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization

Household Hive is not liable for losses or damages resulting from your failure to safeguard your account credentials.

7. No Guarantee of Placement or Outcome

Household Hive provides placement services, but we do not guarantee that:

  • Any family will be matched with a candidate
  • Any candidate will be offered a placement
  • A placement will result in a successful, long-term, or satisfactory working relationship
  • Provider availability will exist at any given time, including for on-call care requests
  • Any candidate’s background screening, references, or vetting results will guarantee future behavior, performance, or compatibility

Families remain solely responsible for their final hiring decisions, day-to-day supervision, employment relationship, and ongoing employment practices. Background screening is a tool to support informed hiring decisions — it is not a guarantee.

8. Fees, Payments, and Refunds

Specific fees — including the engagement fee, placement fee, on-call membership fee, and booking fees — are described on the Website and governed by the applicable signed agreement (such as the Family Agency Agreement).

Payments are processed through third-party payment processors. By submitting payment information, you agree to the terms of the payment processor, in addition to these Terms.

Engagement fees are non-refundable. Other fee terms, including placement fees, replacement support, cancellation policies, and refund eligibility, are governed by the applicable signed agreement between you and Household Hive. Nothing on the Website itself constitutes a binding fee agreement until that separate document is signed.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on the Website — including text, graphics, logos, photographs, designs, page layouts, icons, audio, video, software, and other materials (the “Content”) — is owned by Household Hive or our licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The “Household Hive” name, logo, and related branding are trademarks of Household Hive. You may not use these marks without our prior written permission.

You may: view, print, or download Content for your personal, non-commercial use related to evaluating or engaging Household Hive’s services.

You may not: reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, sell, license, or create derivative works from any Content without our express written consent. You may not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.

Job postings, candidate profile information, family job opportunities, and similar content shared through the placement process are confidential and may not be copied, redistributed, or used to recruit outside Household Hive, except as expressly permitted by a separate signed agreement.

10. Submissions to Household Hive

If you send Household Hive feedback, suggestions, ideas, testimonials, photos, or other materials — whether through forms, email, social media, or any other channel — you grant Household Hive a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, and display those submissions in connection with our services, subject to our Privacy Policy.

You represent that any submission you provide is your own original content (or that you have permission to share it) and does not infringe anyone else’s rights or violate any law.

Household Hive reserves the right to remove, edit, or refuse to use any submission at our discretion, for any reason.

To exercise any privacy right, please email us at contact@householdhiveagency.com or write to us at the address in Section 14. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days).

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Website may include links to third-party websites, tools, or resources, such as tax calculators, government domestic worker rights pages, payroll providers, scheduling platforms (such as Calendly), or social media accounts.

These third-party services are not controlled or operated by Household Hive. We provide links to them as a convenience only. We do not endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for any third-party content, products, services, terms, or privacy practices. Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk and is governed by that service’s terms and privacy policy.

12. Background Screening Information

Information about background screening on the Website is for general informational purposes only. Background screening is performed by an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency, and specific screening details are governed by separate disclosure and authorization forms provided to candidates at the time of screening.

Background check results are not a guarantee of future behavior, performance, or compatibility. Families are responsible for their final hiring decisions and for following all applicable employment, household, and labor laws.

13. Disclaimers

The Website and Content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Household Hive disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • Warranties that the Website will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
  • Warranties about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any Content
  • Warranties about the conduct, qualifications, performance, or character of any candidate, family, or household professional

Household Hive does not provide legal, tax, payroll, employment, medical, or childcare advice. Information on the Website (including compensation ranges, benefits guides, and general guidance) is provided for general informational purposes only and does not substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

Families and household professionals are solely responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including employment laws, wage and hour laws, tax obligations, household employer requirements, and workplace safety laws.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Household Hive and its owners, employees, contractors, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunities, goodwill, or reputation
  • Damages arising from the conduct, performance, or character of any candidate, family member, household professional, reference, or third party encountered through Household Hive or the Website
  • Damages arising from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by any user, candidate, family, or reference
  • Damages arising from the actions or omissions of third-party service providers (including payment processors, background check providers, payroll providers, scheduling platforms, or Enginehire)
  • Damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Website
  • Damages arising from any breach of agreement between a family and a household professional

In all cases, the total liability of Household Hive arising from or related to your use of the Website shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you have paid to Household Hive in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Household Hive and its owners, employees, contractors, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your use of the Website or services
  • Your violation of these Terms or any related agreement
  • Your violation of any law or the rights of any third party
  • Information you submit to Household Hive that is false, inaccurate, or misleading
  • Your hiring decisions, employment practices, or relationship with any household professional or family

16. Suspension and Termination

Household Hive reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend or terminate your access to the Website (or any portion of it), with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms, any related agreement, or any applicable law.

Upon termination, you must stop using the Website. The following sections survive termination: Intellectual Property, Submissions to Household Hive, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, and General Provisions.

17. Changes to the Website and These Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Website at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the Website or by direct notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Website after a change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

18.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any lawsuit, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting Household Hive at contact@householdhiveagency.com. We will work in good faith to resolve the dispute through direct communication. Most concerns can be resolved this way, and we ask that you give us at least 30 days to address your concern before initiating any formal legal action.

18.2 Governing Law

These Terms, and any dispute arising from or related to them or your use of the Website, are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

18.3 Venue and Jurisdiction

Any lawsuit, claim, or legal proceeding arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the Website shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts and waive any objection to venue.

18.4 Time Limitation

Any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the Website must be filed within one (1) year after the claim arose. Otherwise, the claim is permanently barred.

19. General Provisions

19.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any separate written agreement you have signed with Household Hive (such as the Family Agency Agreement or Candidate Agreement), constitute the entire agreement between you and Household Hive regarding the Website. If there is a conflict between these Terms and a separate signed agreement, the signed agreement controls with respect to the specific matter addressed.

19.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

19.3 No Waiver

Household Hive’s failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.

19.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms, by operation of law or otherwise, without our prior written consent. Household Hive may freely assign these Terms.

19.5 No Agency or Employment

Nothing in these Terms creates an agency, partnership, joint venture, employment, or franchise relationship between you and Household Hive.

19.6 Headings

Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect the interpretation of these Terms.
