Household Hive

Agency Fees

At Household Hive, we believe families should understand our fees before starting the search process. Our pricing is designed to be transparent, straightforward, and easy to plan for. There are no hidden fees with us.

We are a placement agency, which means families directly employ and pay their household professional. Household Hive supports the search, screening, matching, and placement process, but we do not employ the nanny or household provider.

Engagement Fee

A $400 non-refundable engagement fee is due when a family begins the search process with Household Hive. This fee allows us to begin reviewing your family’s needs, discussing the role, preparing the position details, and identifying candidates who may be a strong fit. The engagement fee helps ensure we are working with families who are ready to begin a thoughtful and active search.

Placement Fee

Once a family selects a candidate and moves forward with hiring, a placement fee is due before the candidate’s official start date. The placement fee is 15% of the candidate’s projected first-year gross wages. Projected first-year gross wages are typically based on the agreed hourly rate, guaranteed weekly hours, and expected schedule for the role.

Example Role Calculation Placement Fee
Full-time nanny at $35/hour, 40 hours/week $35 × 40 × 52 =
$72,800
$10,920
Part-time nanny at $32/hour, 25 hours/week $32 × 25 × 52 =
$41,600
$6,240
Household manager at $38/hour, 35 hours/week $38 × 35 × 52 =
$69,160
$10,374

What’s Included

Your agency fee includes support throughout the placement process, including:

90-Day Replacement

Household Hive offers one replacement search within the first 90 days if the contract was followed and the placement does not work out.

This means we will reopen the search and help introduce another qualified candidate at no additional placement fee during the replacement period.

Replacement support is meant to give families peace of mind while still recognizing that every household role depends on long-term fit, communication, and mutual expectations.

Provider Pay Is Separate

Household Hive’s agency fees are separate from the provider’s wages.

Families are responsible for directly paying their nanny, household manager, family assistant, newborn care specialist, educator, or other household provider.

Families are also responsible for following all applicable household employment requirements, including payroll, taxes, overtime, paid sick time, and any agreed benefits.

Household Hive can help families understand what to discuss, but families remain the direct employer.

Returning & Referrals

We love continuing to support families as their needs change.

Referral and returning-family discounts are applied to future eligible placements and cannot be combined unless approved by Household Hive.

Common Newborn Care Specialist Arrangements

Our goal is not to send families a long list of random resumes. Our goal is to help families move through the search process with clarity, organization, and support.

From the first intake call to the final placement, Household Hive helps families understand the role, meet aligned candidates, and move forward with confidence.
