Household Hive

Household Staffing Services

Support for the many moving parts of a home.

Some families need more than childcare. They need someone who can help keep the household moving — the schedules, errands, organization, vendors, appointments, returns, groceries, supplies, family logistics, and all the little details that somehow become a full-time job on their own.

Household Hive helps families find experienced household staff, including household managers, family assistants, and personal assistants. These roles are designed for families who need practical, reliable support beyond traditional nanny care.
Whether your home needs more structure, an extra set of capable hands, or someone who can help manage the day-to-day details, we can help shape the role and find a professional who fits.

What Is Household Staff?

Household staff is a broad term for professionals who support the daily function of a private home. Depending on the role, this support may include household organization, scheduling, errands, vendor coordination, family logistics, childcare-adjacent tasks, personal assistance, and general household operations.

At Household Hive, this category includes:

Each role can look different depending on the family’s needs. Some homes need someone highly operational who can manage vendors and systems. Others need a flexible helper who can support both children and household tasks. Some families need personal or administrative support for the adults in the home.

The right title matters because it helps set clear expectations around duties, pay, schedule, and candidate experience.

A household manager may help with:

A household manager is not usually a housekeeper, though they may help keep systems organized and coordinate household services. This role is best for families who need someone to manage the flow of the home, not just complete one-off tasks.

Family Assistants

A family assistant is a blended role that often combines childcare support with household tasks. This can be a great fit for families whose children are in school part of the day, or for families who need someone who can shift between helping with the kids and helping with the home.
A family assistant may help with:
A family assistant is often the right fit when a family needs support that is more flexible than a traditional nanny role, but not as operations-heavy as a household manager role.

Personal Assistants

A personal assistant supports the adults in the household with administrative, personal, and lifestyle tasks. This role is usually less childcare-focused and more centered on helping busy individuals or families manage their time, responsibilities, and day-to-day details.
A personal assistant may help with:

What Household Staff Should Not Be Expected to Do

Clear expectations matter. Household staff can provide meaningful support, but each role should be realistic and respectful.
Unless clearly agreed upon in the job description and work agreement, household staff should not be expected to:
If your family needs multiple types of support, we can help determine whether a blended role makes sense or whether separate professionals are a better fit.
