Hiring someone to work inside your home requires trust. At Household Hive, we take that responsibility seriously. Every candidate considered for placement goes through a structured vetting process before being introduced to families.
Our process is designed to look at more than availability. We review each candidate’s experience, communication style, professionalism, references, role preferences, and ability to meet the expectations of private household work.
We believe strong placements begin with a clear understanding of both sides: what the family needs and what the professional is truly qualified and prepared to provide.
Before a candidate is shared with a family, Household Hive reviews several key areas:
Candidates begin by sharing their work history, role preferences, availability, location, experience level, and the types of households they are best suited to support.
We review their resume, recent professional experience, past responsibilities, and whether their background aligns with the roles they are seeking.
Professional references are an important part of our vetting process. Household Hive requires three references from prior employers for candidates being considered for placement.
At least one reference must be from within the past three years so we can better understand the candidate’s recent work style, reliability, communication, and experience in a household or professional setting.
Reference checks may include questions about reliability, punctuality, responsibilities, safety awareness, judgment, communication style, strengths, areas of growth, and whether the reference would hire the candidate again.
Whenever possible, references should come from past families, household employers, supervisors, or professional settings directly related to the role the candidate is seeking.
For childcare-related roles, candidates must provide proof of CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain certification before beginning a placement.
Some roles may require additional review. For example, private educators may be asked to verify education or credentials, and driving roles may require a motor vehicle record check.
Our screening process is built to help families move forward with more clarity and confidence. We take time to understand each candidate’s experience, verify references, review qualifications, and complete role-appropriate background screening before finalizing a placement.
“We want the right match to feel informed, intentional, and built on trust!”
Depending on the role, background screening may include:
Household Hive shares screening information responsibly and in a privacy-conscious way. Families may receive confirmation that screening steps have been completed, along with relevant information needed for the hiring process.
Full background reports may be shared only when legally appropriate and with the candidate’s authorization.
Our goal is to provide families with meaningful information while respecting candidate privacy and complying with applicable screening requirements.
Background screening is an important part of the hiring process, but it is not a guarantee of future behavior, performance, or compatibility.
Household Hive helps families review candidates through a structured placement process, but each family remains responsible for making the final hiring decision and directly employing the household professional they choose.
We encourage families to continue using strong household employment practices after placement, including legal payroll, written agreements, clear expectations, regular check-ins, and open communication.
